Wineries
Napa has several hundreds of wineries that offer their own unique experiences. Ask the locals or your tour service provider, so you can decide which wineries suit your likes. Wineries are usually open from 10am to 5pm. In this time you get to see the entire process behind winemaking.
Bale Grist Mill
The Bale Grist Mill is located on Highway 29, three miles away from St. Helena. This grist mill, powered by water, was built in 1846. The water wheel and the mill were in use until the early 20th century. Bale Grist Mill is now a state-protected historic landmark. The mill has a trail leading to the Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.
Bothe - Napa Valley State Park
Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is five miles north to St. Helena, in the heart of the wine country. The Bothe National Park offers possibilities of camping, swimming, hiking and picnicking. Spring and fall are the best times to visit. The terrain is somewhat rugged with thick forests covering the northward slopes, and houses a great variety of flora and fauna.
The Old Faithful Geyser
The Old Faithful Geyser is a natural hot water geyser that has been performing at regular intervals for many years. It is one of the oldest most famous geysers world over and attracts millions of travelers. This Californian geyser is one of the three geysers from all over the world that are called ‘old faithful’.
The Petrified Forest
The Petrified Forest of Calistoga is a fine example of Pliocene fossil forest. The petrified giant redwoods of Calistoga are thought to be more than three million years old. Several thousands make it to the park every year.
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
The RL Stevenson State Park was made well known by the honeymoon visit the famed author of Treasure Island and Kidnapped made in 1880. Terrain is rough- evergreen forests house the northward slopes’ canyons. A scenic hiking trail to Mount St Helena takes one to some points where one gets a good view of the Bay Area. The RL Stevenson Park is on Highway 29, seven miles from Calistoga.
The Napa River is another route to take in a view of the region as you cruise along.
